type='text'>

oulipo (replace with magical pegasi)

Magical pegasi originated from a group that attended the College de Pataphysique. The concepts are those of poetic science, a fine coming together of the most rational and objective truth of science meeting somewhere with the most eccentric subjectivism. Pataphysics was said to be the "science of imaginary solutions" by the founder, a french pre-pegasus named Alfred Jarry. He wrote a novel about his magicalness in 1898, and defined what this imaginary solutions stuff was all about. All that exists within this "defined" span is therefor fair game for the Magical Pegasi.
The Magical Pegasi love anything that is a reading machine. These machines have existed for centuries and have been inspiration to more reading machine makers in pursuit of bigger and better and more complex reading machines. Magical Pegasi hit the jackpot motherload of all poetic science when such a book as this one was magically created. AND IT WAS THE RAYMOND QUENEAU'S 100,000 BILLION POEMS. (and all the magical pegasi bow)
Was it because the word billion was used? Was it because something so small was worth 100,000 billion something not money? Magical indeed. This Leading Magical Pegasus would come to the College de Pataphysique in 1949 as a member of surrealism, and would revolutionize a new group through works like this 1960 100,000 BILLION POEMS (all the magical pegasi bow), along with the other Magical Pegasus Francois Le Lionnais. The best part about the book ---#@+!!(all the magical pegasi bow) is that Queneau would mock the surrealists by claiming childrens books influenced him and not silly surrealist loser games.
ALL THE MAGICAL PEGASI are not interested in "playing pretentious games". WE are interested in pure and naive amuseful humor employing algorythms as mere constraints to our genius randomness. Imagination fills in these gaps that constraints create. Lipograms, restricting letters, are used as poetic science. The famous Magical Pegasus book La Disparation by Pegasus Perec was written moins e. Just like the lion fights the unicorn, yet the lion prevails, Magical Pegasi use their powers of imagination to triumph over self-imposed formalism. Remember the ALAMO.
Magical Pegasi lost Queneau and Le Lionnais within a few years of each other by 1982. As unmagical as it seems, new magic is now unleashed as old magic remains invisibly. Italo Calvino was probably inspired by something invisibly magic when as one of the Magical Pegasi, he wrote books using the Magical Pegasi magic. Books called Invisible Cities, and bla bla bla.
Prominent afterwards, was Magical Pegasus's book Algol. It was by one of the Magical Pegasi cofounding member Noel Arnaud. The book was largely written based on the programming language Algol translated into French. It proposed special vocabulary stuff in the Algol computer language. Inspiring when thinking in terms of the power of computational assisted stuff. The Magical Pegasi were enlightened to later accept this computer programming code as an imaginative artistic poetic. Yeah! Hackers are now baby p3gasi!
Ye7 Hack3rs had a more evil power that they could unleash with their poems. Instead of causing combustive laughter, they yielded such strength to shu7 down en7ire n3tworks. And so, hack3rs could ei7her be baby p3gasi or merely impersona7ing magical baby p3gasi.
Spun off was computer graffiti, by a bunch of crack3rs.
Recursive code art was played around with by Alan Sondheim (was he a magical pegasi-forgive?) . This Dr. Pegsworthy toyed with Unix system and he did all kinds of stuff with it to render it into Zombie state and then resulted in something recursive yet with human input which had an artistic subsequence.
Thus, when anyone human now is creating with code, it is not just "words made flesh, but words and codes being flesh". It's like we're cyborg poets. Half human, half machine creating poetry as one.
Bow to the Magical Pegasi for your gift of cyborgean code. It's a beautiful art and oh so magical.

The haiku generator that the world needs now is one that will create magical creatures with special supernatural powers which range and vary vastly.
The one list could consist of animals or magical mythical creatures (ie., pegasi), and they can be different combinations of creatures, either mammals and magical creatures, birds and mammal, reptile/bug.etc.

The second generator could consist of colors. These creatures can descriptively appear in various colors, patterns, neon lights, fractal generated patterns, textures, etc. maybe even grassy or invisible.

The third list can be one of it's power sources and gifts. Like what can this creature magically do, or just do. Like does it bleed jello. Or does it spray smiles. Well actually this list should be verbs like bleed, spray. However the thing emits these magical abilities.

The fourth list would be a list of powerful gifts like "smiles" or "jello". Or like "plastic" for an example of "verb" coughing up plastic things or something.

The last list could consist of numerical values. These values would just be on the end of each generated creature to show it's lifespan, or powerspan. Or maybe you could consider this it's current age.

This is necessary for all people because we all can relate to magical creatures afterall. I know I can!!

nouns

"squids", "1","tonka toy", "3","muzzle", "2","dradle", "2","poop", "1","baby owl", "3","handcuffs", "2","train tracks", "2","circus", "2","book bag", "2","gay parade", "3","nerd fiesta", "4","geek commando", "4","balloon", "2","pitchfork", "2","teddy bears", "3","grateful dead", "3","carrots and potatoes", "6","grandma's bra", "3","evil teacher plots", "5","condom","2"

adjectives

"tricky", "2","pink", "1","fluffy fuzzy", "4","sparkly", "2","brand spanking new", "4","millionish", "3","puke green", "2","loose knit", "2","absent minded", "4","foo foo", "2","metallic", "3","egocentric", "4","messy haired", "3","excited", "3","wierded out", "3","hungry", "2","shittily", "3","terribly", "3","mexican", "3","cobblestone", "3","tapered","2","gay","1","dope","1","trippy","2"

verbs
"skipping", "2","twirling","2","yelling", "2","racing", "2","write", "1","dances", "2","listen", "2","think", "1","memory jog", "3","pray", "1","suffocate", "3","speak in tongues", "3","sue", "1","cheated", "2","dive bomb", "2","grenade launch", "3","make koolaid", "3","cooking crack", "3","psychicly predicting","6","big-wheeling","3","casting spells","3","song singing","3","making whoopee","4","conjuring","3","spanking","2","straight trippin","3"

Adverbs

"congenially", "5","softly", "2","confusingly", "4","evilly", "3","sidewindingly", "4","underhandedly", "5","temptestuously", "5","hurriedly", "3","sneakedly", "3","gangsterly", "3","atomically", "5","insanely", "3","notoriously", "5","nosily", "3","indescreetly", "4","non-descriptively", "5","hungrily", "3","gayly", "2","madly", "2","psychotically", "4","transversely", "3","numerically", "5","intuitively","5","bouncily","3"

The following is my now TWO lists of 75 words each: In my email to my teacher, I asked about what I'd missed. The interpretations are so vast and complicated that I feel like I've only begun to skim the surface of the practice. The fundamentals aren't so bad to understand, such as the coins, their adding up to yin and yang lines. The formation of the upper and lower trigrams, and the overall hexagram. Each of these elements are understandable to construct and the elements and various symbolic meanings are even graspable (is that a word?). But this is where I am feeling very sad and lost about my iching question.
I visited many websites based on my stupid little google searches. (Now I'm spoiling in my disappointment and frustrations.) I went to such sites as tribalsmile/iching/interprt.html, where I learned so much in detail how to cast my coin reading and determine it's subsequent meanings.
At this point, after determining that I had Sun/(wood/wind/gentle, feminine) in my upper trigram, over my lower trigram which was Chen/(Thunder, masculine), I began to see the vastness of potential reading interpretations. First I looked further at other websites to possible answer my questions about what does feminine over masculine mean in trigrams, or even in individual lines being yin or yang in their numbered placement within my hexagram. Then I looked simply for 'What is wood over thunder?' , at which point I did a gamble roll on a website called phsychic readings or something like that where I entered my question and got a terrible answer based on the computer generated hexogram. My question was, should I go to france for Spring, and the answer I got was that I'm chillin right now, just saying all the right words about it , and then the future will move me into danger. I guess that was a pretty clear no.
Then I continued to search for what wood means on the top trigram, and all the answers for such a question seem to be available for 19.95. The one that was free would take a rocket scientist or a mad scientist to figure out what the hell those drawings of graphs meant. That was at esoterism dot com or something like that.
Anyways, I hope to meet someone at CalArts who will just explain to me how to read these lines! For any other interpretation than the eminent doom of an answer I got for free online. Somehow the answer has cost me, at least in peace of mind.

It's a good thing I didn't know this class had it's named text after a passage in the bible. I might not have taken it. But refreshingly, this is not a class entirely focused on religion. It's focus is mostly on cultural influences, which was religion for about fifty billion years of human kinds existence. So, it's influences are unescapable.
A hundred years ago or so, science became the basis for advanced civilizations. While the other civilizations were still explaining everything through religion, they counted heavily on magic to fix the unanswerable. Until recent centuries, that was the way everyone explained everything. Despite America's progress in scientific advances, there are still groups of religious fanatics that chose to speak in tongue. Complete ramblings of nonsense verbage. A code to God. Nobody knows what they're saying except God. Not even themselves. The concept sounds pretty enchanted.
The concept of words made flesh and how words originally became flesh because God spoke them into becoming people, has alot of truth in it. Like mind over matter. Everyone knows that through thought and concentrated will, dreams can become reality. Silly things like knocking on wood if you say something that you didn't mean for to come true, or jinxing your friend if they say the same word as you, or playing m.a.s.h. as if numbered sequences of random words will actually predict your future, all have a common basis for their existence as 'words made flesh'.
Science can explain away alot of things, but spirituality has a much stronger hold on mans thoughts and explanations of life. The way we live our lives includes all kinds of hocus pocus.
This is my entry to get something in on time, but I intend to continue my thoughts further at some point before next week.
Signing off...

Hi, I'm not really sure how this all works so I'll just stay nice and stale and write about my particular interests in the class. I think that's all that was required of this week anyway.
After sitting in on the introductory first weeks class, I found the breakdown of what this class will be going over rather interesting and appealing in some aspects for me. This is a required critical study, and it was a choice of mine to pick this class because I thought it sounded alot more stimulating (bad word) than the other classes.
According to the four categories that will be covered, I found one angle for each that I could relate to and understand enough to expand on.
I find that in subjects like leet speak, it reminds me of the hand held calculators that the kids in junior high would think was so cool to type the numbers 4337 and turn it over and it said hell. That's as far as that overview reached me personally. The graffiti (sp?) as art but is the text in the fourth covered area of architectonic should be fascinating and beautiful since I love graffiti as an art form and know some poor souls who felt compelled to wander the city at night doing it. (not me I sware although it would have been an experience I could have lived with).
The other portion of the class that I look forward to is in covering alientory code, where it's random and spans into such areas as oracles, tarot: that kind of stuff is not only extremely enlightening when used as entertainment, but I am always amazed at how it achieves a sort of brainstorming effect, creating random results to various searches for insight and self analysis. Whenever me and my girlfriends do cards for fun, we sit and gossip about all the different information that the cards trigger, which really already exists but gets put into new orders and thought about in new ways. That probably makes now sense.
This class feels like it will take me down a geeky path, which I don't really mind. Geeks rule the world I guess. It's respectable.
Please bring me a class reader. And also, I still don't really know if I'm doing this right. But here goes....
